The New York Times featured Odyssey House runners -- click here to read the article

Become a part of our winning team. Once again Odyssey House clients, staff members, and supporters will be running in the New York City Marathon, 26.2 miles across five boroughs, over bridges and around potholes to a triumphant -- and exhausted -- finish in Central Park on November 6, 2005.

That's the hard part.

But contributing is easy, and we need your support to help our runners stay on course. Odyssey House utilizes running and physical well-being as part of our enhanced substance abuse treatment model -- healthy bodies, healthy lives -- and the marathon is an important motivational tool.

"Physical well-being has a positive impact on the recovery process," said John Tavolacci, head of clinical services at Odyssey House who is spearheading the Run for Your Life fitness campaign. "Recreational activities, like running, help residents stay fit, develop self confidence by achieving personal goals, and feel like they are a part of something larger."
